What an interception is
In quadrant house systems, a sign can fall entirely inside a house without appearing on a house cusp. Its opposite sign will also be intercepted. Other signs then appear on two consecutive cusps.
Whole sign and equal house systems do not produce intercepted signs. The pattern is therefore a consequence of the chosen house division, not a separate astronomical object.
What it does not mean
An intercepted sign is still present and any planet in it remains fully part of the chart. Claims that its energy is locked, missing, or unavailable should be treated as metaphors rather than automatic facts.
Do not interpret an interception before confirming birth time, location, latitude, and house-system settings.
How to interpret it
Study the house containing the intercepted sign, planets inside it, and the condition of the intercepted sign's ruler. Then examine the duplicated cusp signs and their rulers.
Ask whether the person experiences a theme as less directly represented at the house boundary, more internally developed, or dependent on the ruler's placement. Verify the symbolism against lived experience.
Compare house systems
If a planet changes houses across commonly used systems, note both contexts and observe which techniques the practitioner applies consistently. Avoid switching systems only to obtain a preferred interpretation.
Naming the house system makes the reading reproducible and prevents a conditional chart feature from being presented as universal fact.
