Astronomical reference
Exact planetary longitude, ingress time, retrograde motion, local angles, and houses require an ephemeris plus correct time and geographic data. General pages on ZodiacJoy do not substitute calendar conventions for those calculations.
- NASA JPL Horizons for astronomical ephemeris data and documentation.
- US Naval Observatory Astronomical Applications for time and positional reference material.
- IANA Time Zone Database for historical and current timezone rules.
Historical and technical astrology
The site’s vocabulary draws from concepts documented across traditional and modern Western astrology. Different traditions can use different rulers, house systems, orb limits, dignity schemes, and interpretive priorities. Pages name important differences instead of presenting one convention as universal.
- Claudius Ptolemy, Tetrabiblos, for an influential early systematic account of astrology.
- William Lilly, Christian Astrology, for traditional terminology, planetary condition, houses, and judgment.
- Chris Brennan, Hellenistic Astrology, for historical development and traditional techniques.
- Demetra George, Ancient Astrology in Theory and Practice, for a structured approach to planetary condition and natal delineation.
- Robert Hand, Horoscope Symbols, for modern chart synthesis and symbolic interpretation.
Editorial use
This is a further-reading list, not a record of expert review or a claim that every passage was verified against every work. Interpretations on this site are not endorsed by the authors listed here. Interpretive prose is organized around the stated ZodiacJoy methodology: planet describes function, sign describes style, house describes context, and aspect describes interaction.
